Lauren Mastio is a partner in the New Orleans office of Jones Walker LLP and a member of the Litigation Practice Group. Shortly after becoming a partner in January 2018, she was elected to the firm’s board of directors — one of the youngest female attorneys to ever join the group. Showcasing her fast track to partnership and leadership within the firm, Lauren was featured in a Law.com Q&A article “How I Made Partner: ‘Identify What You Love About Being an Attorney,’ Advises Jones Walker’s Lauren Courtney Mastio.”

Lauren also co-leads the Inclusion Group in connection with the firm’s Women’s Initiative, has held the position of co-chair for the firm’s Hiring and Recruiting Committee, and has served on the Mentoring and Training Committee. She is an active member of the American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, Jefferson Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association, and the Federalist Society.

In 2019, Lauren was a participant in the Bryan Bell Metropolitan Leadership Forum. In 2021, she was recognized as a Woman Worth Watching by Profiles in Diversity Journal and was chosen by New Orleans CityBusiness for its Leadership in Law Award.

Lauren advises and represents oil and gas industry clients on matters concerning property contamination and restoration; downhole issues; land loss and subsidence; the rights and obligations of parties to joint operating agreements, oil, gas, and mineral leases, surface leases, oil and gas asset purchases, drilling contracts, and pipeline right-of-way agreements; claims under the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act; and claims under the Louisiana Oil Well Lien Act. Additionally, Lauren advises clients in connection with terminalling, transportation and storage agreements as well as fabrication agreements. She has represented independent producers, major producers, pipeline companies, significant landowners, fabrication companies, power companies, and product storage and terminalling companies.

Lauren also has an active construction law practice, where she counsels contractors and subcontractors in construction litigation and a range of commercial disputes. She represents clients in cases at the state and federal levels in matters involving design errors, defective specifications, delay in construction claims, change orders, and payment disputes.

Lauren’s leadership extends well beyond Jones Walker to the greater New Orleans community, where she works with economic development, education, and other organizations that contribute to the quality of life in the region. She is a member of the NextGen Council of Greater New Orleans, Inc.; a member of the board and the current president of the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation; serves on the March of Dimes Louisiana Market Board of Directors and is a past president of the New Orleans Market Board, among other committee service; and has currently and previously served on committees supporting local non-profits, such as the Friends of City Park Marketing Committee, the Audubon Nature Institute’s Zoo-To-Do Sponsorship, Patron, and Scales & Ales Committees, and the Legacy Donor Foundation’s Soul Revival Committee.

Lauren is also the mother of three children ranging in age from six months to 11 years old.
