I am a white Hispanic LGBTQI+ individual blessed with a beautiful wife and two children. Our family has built our lives in Louisiana - both in New Orleans and St. Tammany and East Baton Rouge Parish. As a 20 year+ resident of South Louisiana, I feel more at home here than anywhere else I've called home (domestically and abroad), although I am also grateful my adopted home bridges my muti-facted cultural background and allows me to serve in its growth as a model of the type of community that is inclusive and more successful as a result thereof.
Growing up, I was raised to be a part of, and serve, my community. I am grateful to have had many opportunities to do so in various roles including as Chair and Executive/General board member for Louisiana's Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for over 10 years, Volunteer Attorney for both Louisiana Appleseed and Louisiana's Pro Bono Project and current member of the Louisiana Language Access Guidelines task force for the Louisiana Supreme Court, among others. I believe diversity and inclusion - particularly in today's political environment, are more important than ever to a thriving socio-economic environment and a diverse educational development for future generations of professionals that will be more encouraged to stay and invest their talents here if the right opportunities are developed and available to them. For this reason, I also serve as an Adjunct Law Professor at Loyola Law School and, more recently, a middle school Spanish teacher in St. Tammany Parish to do my part in supporting the educational needs of our upcoming and diverse secondary and graduate students.
Professionally, I am happy to have obtained in excess of 50 million dollars in insurance proceeds recovery for corporate policyholders to reinvest into the community and address both climatological and data privacy issues in the fields of Energy and Tourism. I am also proud to have assisted in drafting Louisiana's Language Access Guidelines, which provide non-English speakers with translation services during court proceedings. I am also proud to have served in advisory capacities in Gov. Bel Edwards' small business task force during the covid pandemnic as well as the Louisiana District Export Council regarding international considerations and investments. I look forward to serving our community well into the future in these, and other, areas.
