Emily Engberg is the Advertising Director at The Times-Picayune|New Orleans Advocate and NOLA.com. She oversees a New Orleans-based team of multimedia sales consultants, driving revenue and strategic initiatives for her market while working in partnership with her peers in Baton Rouge and Acadiana to achieve overarching company revenue objectives.
After beginning her career in media in 2012 as the first sales rep hired when The Advocate decided to move into the New Orleans market and launch a start-up daily newspaper, Emily’s experience in the industry has hardly been conventional. Despite facing a nationwide trend towards downsizing in print media, Emily and the staff of The New Orleans Advocate were able to grow that fledgling sales team of one that operated out of the Sales Director’s kitchen into a multi-million dollar print and digital operation.
In 2019, The New Orleans Advocate acquired its direct competitor, The Times-Picayune and NOLA.com, and Emily’s team more than doubled overnight. She helped spearhead the both rapid and monumental transition of NOLA Media Group advertising revenue and staff from the previous entity to the current dually branded company. The Times-Picayune|New Orleans Advocate and NOLA.com now represent the largest branch of The Advocate’s umbrella of newspapers and affiliate websites spanning the state of Louisiana.
