Darrin, a New Orleans native, grew up on various North Carolina and Virginia Marine Corps bases. He graduated from Camp Lejeune High School in North Carolina due to his father’s thirty-year Marine Corps career. Darrin knew he wanted to be a lawyer from a young age, as early as the third grade.

Darrin showed exceptional athletic ability at a young age and excelled in Soccer, Basketball, and Track during high school. He earned a Track scholarship to Louisiana State University, where his team won 2 National Championships. Although he did not graduate from LSU, he majored in Criminal Justice at Southern University in New Orleans. Darrin worked at the Orleans Parish Deputy Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Foti for a year before attending law school at Southern University Law Center, where he graduated.

Having graduated from Southern University New Orleans and Southern University Law Center. Darrin has a Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Southern University at New Orleans.

Darrin has been a strong advocate for equality among New Orleanians. He has fought for the rights of restaurant workers in the city and has dedicated himself to finding actionable paths to transformative justice. He is also a member and officer of the Rho Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. He participates in fundraising for the scholarship program to help build, grow, and mentor our future leaders. Darrin’s experience with court procedures and first-hand knowledge of how courts interact with attorneys, law enforcement, and the public has been invaluable.

In addition to his legal work, Darrin is an accomplished soccer referee who has risen to the rank of National Soccer Referee. He now mentors and coaches young referees who are on their way to refereeing in Major League Soccer. He is the Coordinator of Referee Development for the Louisiana State Referee Committee and is involved with the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association as a referee and chapter president.

In May 2018, Darrin joined Court Watch NOLA as the Director of Strategic Initiatives, with a focus on expanding the organization’s model nationally. In March 2022, he was promoted to Executive Director. In his current role, Darrin is committed to making the courts accessible to all members of the community. He works closely with his team to ensure transparency and accountability in the criminal courts of New Orleans.
